- Reads, writes, compares, orders, and rounds whole numbers up to 1000 using base ten blocks and a hundred chart, not just by memorizing digits.
- Adds and subtracts numbers up to 1000 using the regrouping (carrying and borrowing) algorithm, including across a zero, and checks with a mental estimate first.
- Knows the 2s, 5s, and 10s multiplication facts and their matching division facts by heart, built from arrays and equal groups the student can see and touch.
- Names equal parts of a whole across halves, thirds, fourths, fifths, sixths, eighths, and tenths, and finds equivalent fractions with fraction strips.

- Reads, compares, rounds, and represents whole numbers confidently up to 10 000, with instant recall of all multiplication and division facts from 1x1 to 10x10.
- Multiplies two- and three-digit numbers by a one-digit number and divides using the area model, expressing a leftover as a remainder or fraction as needed.
