Who we are
Winny Math is an online math tutoring business based in Toronto, Ontario. Our tutors are university students. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We follow Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA).
Our privacy officer is Brett Caslick. Questions or requests go to [email protected].
What we collect, and why
Contact form (home page). When you send us a message we collect:
- First name (and last name, if you give it), email address and phone number.
- The student's grade or course, how you heard about us, and anything you write in the message box.
- The page you sent the form from, your IP address and your browser's user agent. We use these only to prevent spam and abuse.
We use this information to reply to your enquiry, suggest a tutor and times, and set up the tutoring you ask for. Each enquiry is emailed to us through Resend (an email service in the United States) and stored on our DigitalOcean servers.
Landing pages. Some of our ad and video landing pages have a short form that collects your name, phone number and email so we can contact you about a free lesson.
Learn and Prep practice platform. Signing in with an access code we give students is optional on Learn (/learn) and required on Prep (/prep). When a student signs in, we store:
- The access code (stored in a scrambled, hashed form), plus the student's name and grade, entered by our staff.
- Practice progress, such as questions attempted and completed.
This is stored on DigitalOcean Spaces in Toronto, Canada. Progress is also saved in your browser's local storage so the page remembers where you left off. We use this information only to run the practice platform and help the student's tutor.
Payments. Payment is by Interac e-Transfer. We never ask for, or store, card or banking details through a chat or form.
Cookies and analytics
- Google Analytics 4 runs on our public marketing pages (not on Learn or Prep pages).
It sets cookies named

The platform will not work without it.wm_staffis set only for our staff when they sign in. It lasts 24 hours.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the tutor working with you and the service providers we use to run the business:
- DigitalOcean: website hosting and storage (Canada and the United States).
- Cloudflare: network delivery and security (global).
- Google: Analytics and Google Fonts (United States).
- Fontshare: fonts on our tutors page.
- Resend: delivers contact-form emails to us (United States).
Some of these providers process information outside Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of those countries, and authorities there may be able to access it.
Children and students under 18
Many of our students are minors. For any student under 18, a parent or guardian must arrange tutoring and give consent. Children under 13 should not fill in our contact form themselves; please ask a parent or guardian to do it. We collect only the minimum we need to tutor, and we never share a student's schoolwork or personal information outside the people delivering their tutoring.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries: up to 12 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client.
- Learn and Prep student records: until 1 year after the student's last session, then deleted.
- You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw your consent, or have it deleted. Email [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top.
