Sample: the first question, solved

A data set is 3, 5, 7 (mean=5). If you add 20, find the new mean.

New mean = (3+5+7+20) ÷ 4 = 35 ÷ 4 = 8.75.

And one from the hard end

A data set is 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 (mean=35, median=35). An outlier of 200 is added, then the two smallest values (10 and 20) are removed. Find the final mean, and explain how these combined changes affect the shape of the distribution.
