Sample: the first question, solved

You want to survey classmates on favorite pet (dog/cat) AND favorite subject (math/art). What should the table's rows and columns be?

📘 Worked solution
Rows should be the pet choices and columns should be the subject choices, so each response lands in one matching cell.

And one from the hard end

A two-way tally table has 4 cells summing to 20 students, sorted by "likes sports" (yes/no) and "has a pet" (yes/no). If "sports+pet"=8, "sports+no pet"=5, and "no sports+pet"=4, find the last cell ("no sports+no pet") and verify the total.
